Introduction
African elephants are the largest land mammal on the whole entire earth! They can weigh up to 6.6 tons! Their average lifespan is about 65 years. Their ears are close to the shape of Africa. This is how you tell an African elephant from other elephants. Elephants are very important to the environment. They mainly eat plants and fruits. Then they walk many miles and excrete seeds through their dung. This spreads different seeds all over their habitat. Unfortunately some populations remain endangered because of habitat loss and they are poached for ivory.
